Long-time National Endowment for the Arts staffer Michael Orlove has been promoted to the newly-created position of Director of State, Regional, and Local Partnerships starting in April 2019. In addition to overseeing the state and regional portfolios and maintaining his work overseeing international activities of the Endowment, Orlove will also take over grantmaking portfolios related to local arts agencies.

Orlove started with the NEA in 2012, but had his start in the field via Chicago’s local arts agency. He has been a strong friend to locals in his time as Director of Artist Communities and Presenting & Multidisciplinary Works, and is looking forward to learning more about how the local, state, and regional arts agency support system works and how the NEA can continued to support their good work.

“I had the great privilege to work and learn alongside the previous director, Laura Scanlan, and from the stellar (current) staff led by Andi Mathis,” says Orlove. “I welcome the opportunity to absorb as much as I can from our colleagues at the locals, states, and regions as well as our friends at Americans for the Arts and the National Assembly of State Arts Agencies.”
