Following the retirement of John Bryan this past fall, CultureWorks recently announced that Scott Garka will take the reins as the new President on January 20, 2015. Though Garka does not come from the arts field (he is currently the Senior Director for Consulting Services with Virginia Health Quality Center), he is very active in the arts community as a board member and treasurer for the Cultural Arts Center at Glen Allen. He also performs with local theater companies and music organizations, and will combine his passion for the arts with his leadership and management skills to lead CultureWorks.

Garka said: "The Richmond region has a rich arts and culture history, one that has grown significantly in recent years. I am looking forward to supporting that continued growth by collaborating with the many diverse arts and culture organizations in our area as well as our community and business partners, for the benefit of the entire region."

Jerry Williams, a CultureWorks board member, spoke with Garka about his upcoming role as leader of the Richmond, VA local arts agency. Watch the interview here.
