Two photos of people wearing a red floral scarf and a blue and black mandala scarf.

Renowned contemporary artist and Americans for the Arts Artists Committee member Shepard Fairey has designed two natural fiber scarves, ‘Floral Takeover’ (red) and ‘Lotus Diamond’ (blue), with proceeds benefitting Americans for the Arts. The scarves are now available for purchase on the Obey Giant website at store.obeygiant.com. Americans for the Arts is grateful to Shepard for this generous donation, which will support Americans for the Arts’ mission of advancing arts and arts education in all 50 states.

Shepard’s wife Amanda has been a longtime admirer of artwork on textiles and fabrics. This year, she and Shepard collaborated with their friend Julie Gardner of Obscura Designs to produce these natural fiber scarves that can be either hung as art or worn. It was important to Amanda and Shepard that the materials used are sustainable. ‘Floral Takeover’ draws from Shepard’s love of patterns and his history working with discontinued wallpaper in his early screen-printing days. ‘Lotus Diamond’ features a mandala lotus motif that has decorative appeal but also symbolizes harmony and triumph over adversity.

‘Floral Takeover’ measures 78” x 27” and is 100% merino wool. ‘Lotus Diamond’ measures 34” x 34” and is 100% rose twill. Each limited-edition scarf costs $289 and comes packaged in a collector’s box signed by Shepard.
