In Nashville, a $200 grant to the Nashville nonprofit the Housing Fund will provide housing assistance for artists live/work spaces. The “Make a Mark Program” is funded by the Kresge and Surdna Foundations and will provide financing to artists and creatives to live permanently in Nashville and Davidson County. The Housing Fund, in coordination with the Metro Nashville Arts Commission, will manage the project along with an advisory committee of local artists. Read more below!

The trend of providing more affordable housing for artists is happening more and more across the country. Last week, we posted a news item about Mayor Bill de Blasio in his state of the city speech imploring his residents to stay in the city (“please don’t move to Austin”) and announcing a plan to provide 1,500 units of affordable housing to artists and musicians as part of his larger effort to build more affordable housing in the city.
