This collaborative exhibition highlights the diversity and creativity of the Paducah art scene. LowerTown artists will be selectively collaborating with other artists to create an exciting evening of art. The artists may choose to jointly create new work, or work individually sharing a common theme or subject. The new 2016 Paducah Creative Collaborations event series promotes growth and awareness of Paducah's local creatie industry. Each event is free to the public and will provide participants a unique art experience.

Paducah’s rivers will be the inspiration for the art that will be exhibited in the galleries and studios of the LowerTown artists. Each artist will be unveiling his or her interpretation of the theme in this first of its kind event in the LowerTown Arts District. There will be nineteen venues of the LowerTown galleries and studios participating in this one of a kind event. The new 2016 Paducah Creative Collaborations event series promotes growth and awareness of Paducah's local creatie industry. Each event is free to the public and will provide participants a unique art experience.

An exhibition of commissioned graphic design, photographs and other original works by world-renowned graphic designer David Carson. Part of the March 31, 2016 opening celebration for PSAD’s new 30,000-square-foot 2D and Graphic Design Building at 905 Harrison Street in LowerTown Paducah, Ky. The exhibition reception and opening celebration will be from 5 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. The Carson exhibition will remain on view through May 6, 2016. To complement the exhibition, David will be giving an artist’s talk at 6 p.m. on April 1, which is also free and open to the public.

Paducah becomes a mecca for fiber artists each spring when 30,000 international and domestic quilters make the pilgrimage to attend AQS Quiltweek - Paducah.

Internationally recognized juried fiber art exhibition features a compelling mix of traditional and non-traditional works created using natural or synthetic fibers in an array of processes including quilting, weaving, embroidery, basketry and more. One of Yeiser’s most engaging, innovative and colorful annual exhibitions, Fantastic Fibers is an inspirational “must see” for quilters, artists and art enthusiasts.

Yeiser Art Center is now accepting entries for the FANTASTIC FIBERS 2016 international juried exhibition. One of Yeiser Art Center’s most engaging and innovative international exhibitions, FANTASTIC FIBERS seeks to showcase a wide range of outstanding contemporary works related to the fiber medium.

Spalding University’s Master of Fine Arts in Writing Program joins the Speed Art Museum for “Spalding at the Speed: A Third-Friday Writers’ Gala,” a monthly reading series that showcases short readings by Spalding MFA students, alumni, staff, and faculty, as well as writers from the local literary community. The evening opens with “Jump Start,” an open-mic session for 1 to 2 minute readings of works in progress. Attendees are invited to bring unfinished works to read. Free and open to the public.

This exhibition celebrates the picturesque city views and pastoral landscapes of Maxime Lalanne and Adolphe Appian, two artists of the French etching revival. In their delicately rendered prints, Lalanne and Appian document historic neighborhoods, witness changes to the urban landscape, and offer nostalgic representations of an idyllic countryside. From City to Country: Nineteenth-Century French Prints will be on display at Local Speed August 7, 2015–January 2, 2016.

The Home of the Innocents is a private, non-profit agency in Louisville that provides the skills and opportunities by which vulnerable children and their families may improve their lives. Through their facilities and resources, the Home is able to offer many services, including a crisis shelter, residential care, and a therapeutic, loving foster care program. The Speed Art Museum partnered with the Home to create The Color of My World, the next Wall Together exhibit at Local Speed.

The 48 Hour Film Project is a wild and sleepless weekend in which teams are challenged to make a movie. All writing, shooting, editing and scoring must be completed in just 48 hours.
On Friday night, you are assigned a character, a prop, a line of dialogue and a genre that must be included in your movie. 48 hours later, you must submit your film. Next? Your masterpiece will be shown on the big screen at Maiden Alley Cinema. 

The Speed Art Museum is pleased to present the third art talk in the 2014–15 Global Speed Series: The United Kingdom. This event is FREE to Museum members and University of Louisville students, faculty, and staff.
