Americans for the Arts honored seven exceptional individuals at its National Arts Awards black tie gala Oct. 17 at Cipriani 42nd Street in New York City. The annual awards recognize artists and arts leaders who exhibit exemplary national leadership and whose work demonstrates extraordinary achievement.

The board and staff of Americans for the Arts, who remember Sasse French as a staunch advocate, a tireless fundraiser, and a community change agent through the arts, mourn her passing and celebrate her legacy and contributions to strengthening the arts in America.

Americans for the Arts and the National Lieutenant Governors Association (NLGA) announced today that Iowa Lt. Governor Kim Reynolds was awarded the Public Leadership in the Arts Award for State Arts Leadership at the NLGA’s Annual Conference in Grand Rapids, Michigan. The annual award honors a public official who has demonstrated outstanding leadership in the advancement of the arts at the state level.

The John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts recently announced the Owensboro Public Schools Board of Education in Owensboro, KY has received the 28th annual Kennedy Center and National School Boards Association (NSBA) Award for exemplary leadership in arts education.

The award, which includes a $10,000 prize, was presented by Mario R. Rossero, Senior Vice President of Education at the Kennedy Center, at the National School Boards Association’s Annual Conference in Boston, MA.

ArtsKC - Regional Arts Council, the 5-county arts council serving the Kansas City, Missouri and Kansas areas, announced its new President and Chief Executive Officer Bruce W. Davis.  Davis will transition into a position currently held by Susan Stanton, who has served as interim President and CEO since July.
